About

Frederik Berlaen is coming to Moscow to host a Python programming workshop. This workshop is meant for practicing designers and students using applicable softwares. The workshop participants will be introduced to coding in Python and the Drawbot. Then they will get to practice with a small piece of code. Additionally, the participants will learn to program inside Robofont and will create their own plug-ins to aid their own routine tasks.

Frederik Berlaen is a typeface designer who is particularly fond of programming. Frederik studied graphic design at the visual arts school Sint Lucas in Ghent, and upon graduation, went to get a degree in Type and Media at the Royal Academy of Art. His diploma focused on the app Kalliculator. Kalliculator is an app that studies the behaviour of the broad-nib and pointed pen, written in Python and allowing to generate an infinite amount of typefaces according to the entered parameters. Frederik’s work nickname is TypeMyType, and he focuses on developing and programming apps such as RoboFont, DrawBot, UFOstretch and others.
